“Positive next step” for Longbridge regeneration

The proposed creation of more than 200 apartments, which represent a further phase of development in St Modwen’s Longbridge regeneration project, have been approved in a move described as a “positive next step”.The application site comprises part of the former North Works of the MG Rover site. It has been cleared of any buildings associated with its former use.In August, St Modwen secured planning permission to transform the MG Works with new employment space and almost 700 homes, with the project expected to create more than 1,300 jobs.The recently backed scheme includes three apartment buildings of 205 one- and two-bedroom properties.Dave Smith, managing director at St Modwen Homes, said: “Longbridge is fast becoming a thriving community hub from which people can live, work and play. We are delighted to receive planning on what is another phase of many.”These new apartments represent a positive next step in the regeneration of the area and will provide sought-after homes, conveniently located next to public transport links and amenities.”
